Pluriactividad (Working & Running a Business)
Can I have a regular job and also register as autónomo?
Yes. In Spain, you can be both an employee and an autónomo at the same time. This is known as pluriactividad.
If your self-employed activity is regular, you are generally required to register as autónomo even if you already have a full-time job. Your employer's Social Security contributions do not replace your obligation to contribute as an autónomo.
However, people in pluriactividad may qualify for certain Social Security reductions or refunds depending on their circumstances and total contributions. If you expect to maintain both activities, discuss your situation with a gestor to ensure you're taking advantage of any available benefits.

Notes
Pluriactividad means working simultaneously as an employee (Régimen General) and as a self-employed worker (RETA). While Social Security contributions are generally required under both systems, Spain provides certain relief mechanisms for eligible workers in pluriactividad. The specific benefits have changed over time, so verify current eligibility with the Social Security portal or your gestor before registering.
